2021 Meetings and Events
(Please wear face masks and follow 6' social distancing)

PICNIC: JULY 17, 2021, SATURDAY (If rain, reschedule July 18, Sunday)  Arrive 10:00am,  FREE PICNIC LUNCH AT NOON
 
The picnic will be held at PHYLLIS CANTINI’S GARDEN, 3140 N. Elder Drive, West Bloomfield, MI 48324.  Phyllis grows 1,100 varieties of daylilies which include 600 varieties of spider forms and unusual forms.  A large number of double forms are also grown.  The shady areas display approximately 100 varieties of hostas.
 
EACH PERSON ATTENDING WILL RECEIVE A FREE DAYLILY donated by Phyllis.  Additional daylilies donated by Phyllis will also be free in exchange for a donation to SMDS.  Thank you for your generosity, Phyllis!
 
The daylilies will be bare root.  Bring your own magic marker and containers, bags, buckets, pots, soil etc…for transporting the daylilies.
 
A free lunch, bottled water and lemonade will be provided.  For any other beverages, please bring your own.  Also, please bring a lawn chair.
 
GOLDNER-WALSH GREENHOUSE AND GARDEN CENTER is approximately 20 minutes from Phyllis' garden and is a fun visit after lunch.

GARDEN VISITS:  JULY 31, 2021, SATURDAY (If rain, reschedule August 1, Sunday)
 
NANCY COOPER, SERENITY GARDEN ON JOSLIN LAKE, 8115 Roepke Court, Gregory, MI 48137   ARRIVE 10:00am  LUNCH about noon, bring your own lunch and lawn chair
 
Nancy grows 800 varieties of daylilies with a great variety of companion accent plants so there is always colorful bloom from spring through fall.  Approximately 70 varieties of ornamental grasses also accent the garden.  Shady areas display over 500 varieties of hostas. The garden also displays a great variety of beautiful statues and garden décor. 
 
SAUNDRA DUNN, ALONG THE FENCE GARDEN, 3035 Parman Road, Dansville, MI 48819 (approximately 20 minutes from Nancy Cooper Garden)
Optional visit after lunch.  Saundra grows 2,200 varieties of daylilies which are for sale.  Bring your wish list.
