My father, Howard Hite began hybridizing in the 1970's. When he moved his gardens from Lake Angelus to Sylvan Lake Michigan in 1997, I became involved with growing and hybridizing daylilies. I hope to realize my father's dream of hybridizing a blue daylily one day. My focus is on Unusual Form with a Diploid and Tetraploid program. Growing daylilies in Michigan has grown to growing seedlings in Florida. Jungle Daylilies In Paradise is the unofficial name for the Florida garden that I share with Sandy Soderberg. The seedlings are growing beautifully and I can bring a seed to bloom in one year. I am finally getting some results that I am pleased with and a direction that is my style. Bringing forward my Dad's line is finally seeing some results especially with the pinks that have bloomed this year. |
